Sioux Falls

We were on the road last weekend. Attended a funeral in Northwest Iowa. Followed a plane around the country to pick up Sharon's sister Bonnie. Her flight was delayed due to fog and she ended up landing in Sioux falls instead of Omaha. We arrived at Sioux Falls a little early and stopped at Falls park. Jesus said everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a man who builds his house upon a rock. When we were watching the falls I thought of those words.
The river was pouring over the rocks. All the loose rock and dirt has been washed away, but the solid rocks were standing firm against the pressure of the rushing water.
That's the way it is with life as well. Not only will those who are not grounded in Jesus the Christ be washed away, but everything in our lives that is not based on Jesus will be washed away as well. I pray that I can say good riddance when all the ways and things of this world are washed away and out of my life.

The pressure from the falling water had to be tremendous but the rocks do not move. That is how our lives can be also, if we rely on God, no matter what we face in this life we will stand firm. When we brought Bonnie back to Omaha to the airport the air in the Missouri valley was gray with dust. The dust was blowing off the fields that were flooded last year. All the loose sediment was blowing away in the wind. The things of this world will eventually be just dust blowing in the wind.
