Making the best of a bad situation

I bought a countertop for the house we are just about to finshed remodeling. Went to install it and discovered the cabinets were only 22 and 1/2 inches deep.

Standard is 24 inch cupboards and an inch overhang. That left the countertop hanging over by 2 and 1/2 inches. that was not going to work. I had to cut the countertop narrower and then put a trim board on the front to cover the new edge. Not the best case but sometime you have to make the best of a bad situation.

We always replace the toilets in houses that we buy. Whoever installed the original plumbing in this house must have needed a wall nearby to lean against. Personally I would have centered the toilet in the space. Now we are just making the best of a bad situation.

The next house we are going to remodel has this interesting tile job. Did they use up all the left over cut off pieces to fill in a space and then just put in a wide grout joint to finish it off? I don't know if we can make the best of a bad situation or if we will need a hammer and a shovel.

We put a lot of stuff by the curb and give it away. 2 weeks ago someone added to the stuff we had by the curb. All the stuff we put out was taken but not the broken pack and play that was added. We made the best of a bad situation and paid to have it buried in the landfill. Thank you to whoever shared their treasure (garbage) with us.

This bedroom has 6 of those bookshelves in it. Too many to actually fit along the walls. If you fill half of the closet door you can make all 6 fit in the room. Sometimes if you are making the best of a bad situation, you might want to rethink what you are doing and why you are doing it.

If a child likes to draw with markers and you don't have a white board, letting them use one of our pine 6 panel doors is not the solution. That is making the worst of a bad situation. Yes I am going to charge heavily to sand the door and refinish it. Kiss your deposit goodbye.

A few months back I was in a store buying supplies and the clerk said. "Hey you have on a clean cap today." Ok, it made me think was my cap that dirty, Yea it was. I have a whole box of new caps that was in the last house we bought. Now I just have to figure out when to throw away the one I have on and put on a new one.
When the family was at our house for Thanksgiving one of the grandsons had forgot his cap. I said " come with me" and took him down to my laundry room (yes my laundry room, Sharon and I each have our own washer and dryer. She seems to have a problem with my work clothes in her washer and dryer) I had a pile of caps on the dryer and told Blake to pick one out and he could have it. Then, of course his cousin, 4 year old Caleb wanted a cap, so he picked one out, Then Caleb"s younger sister Ella wanted a cap so she picked one out. She wanted to know if the paint on the cap was wet or dry. It's dry, so she took a cap with paint on it. Then Caleb wanted to exchange caps because his didn't have paint on it. He picked one out that was nicely marked up with paint.
See, that clerk thought I was wearing my cap too long and making the best of a bad situation but I was wearing the popular cap as far as small children are concerned. Does that mean I am approaching second childhood? I hope so kids have more fun.

It is said if life hands you lemons make lemonade. There is a lot of truth in that. A good life is more about how you handle what comes into your life than everything always being wonderful.
Sometimes we walk through the valleys because of our bad choices and sometimes we may never know why we walk through a valley, but God knows.
It seems like a trite saying to "make the best of a bad situation", but we don't know how God is using the "bad situations " in our lives to impact others and yes, even to impact us.
The best thing we can do when life takes a turn is always remember, God has got this and He will see us through. Yes, He will make the best of a bad situation.
